Hi Gene,
We haven't done that in the past. I think it's mostly the
problem of manning it continuously. I'd be open to help in
this area.
However, here are a couple of personal opinions:
In the days of the Internet and Mapquest, the need for
talk-in has been greatly diminished.
I don't think many of us actually have 75M or 6M mobile
capability.
It may well be worthwhile to identify and monitor a local 2M
repeater.
I will most likely pass out my cell-phone number, in advance
of the meet, for anyone who really needs assistance. Last
year we had an attendee from Kansas City turned back by the
police in the middle of the night, due to flooding, just a
couple of miles from the fairgrounds. I doubt if we'd have
been manning talk-in at 3AM under any circumstance, but I
can certainly risk being awaken by a phone call.
