Rich,
Congratulations for acquiring the GRC-9.
I'm not surprised your set is "lacking an AC PSU"... The original AC PSU
for the GRC-9 is the PP-327/GRC-9Y and it works at the AC input range of
100 to 240 V. The AC powered system is called AN/GRC-9Y. The PP-327's are
extremely scarce as not very many of them were manufactured and of those not
very many survived.
I have one of these power supplies and it's larger than the GRC-9 itself,
and weighs 90 pounds. More weight per Watt than almost anything else I know
of... However, it makes the operation of the GRC-9 really convenient. The
PP-327 is an extremely complicated power supply, and it'd be very difficult
and expensive to duplicate.
The common PSU for the GRC-9 is the DY-88 and the DY-105 dynamotor supplies.
The DY-88 primary supply voltage is selectable between 6, 12 and 24 VDC,
the DY-105 works only with 24 VDC input. There is another power supply, the
PE-237, which is an older version power supply for the BC-1306 (the
predecessor of the GRC-9), using vibrators. It is also selectable between 6,
12 and 24 VDC input. The power requirements of the BC-1306 and the GRC-9 are
identical. Then there was the hand-crank generator, the GN-58 for
transmitting and the BA-48 battery pack for the receiver.
You'll be better off getting the military manual for the GRC-9 which also
lists the power supplies and has all the schematics. Fair Radio Sales
usually has the original military technical manual for sale. The voltage
requirements for the receiver section are 1.4 VDC for the filaments and 105
VDC B+, and for the transmitter 475 VDC B+ , 6 VDC for the filaments and
relay.
I'll look up the pin-outs tomorrow morning and will post them. The simplest
thing is if you buy a DY-105 (fairly inexpensive at Fair Radio - DY-88's are
much harder to come by) and the matching cable and simply power up the
radio - the original way - from 24VDC.
Good luck,

Subject: [MRCA] Needed: Pinout and voltages for GRC-9
My newly acquired GRC-9 is lacking an AC PSU. I have the pinout of the plugs
on the front of the radio but I don;t know where the various voltages go or
what these voltages ares supposed to be. All the plugs are labled with
individual pin numbers but no "B+", "Bias", "Ground", etc.
Can anyone send me a schematic of a PSU with th eproper pinout for the
GRC-9?
