Mobile, Alabama might be a good site....Plenty of hotel space, Casinos
just over the state line in Mississippi and three WW2 ships to tour
complete with WW2 radio rooms (USS Alabama, USS Drum, and USS LST-325)
To be joined with the Mobile Amateur Radio Club annual Hamfest.
>First- Is there enough interest to have a milradio meet
>in the Central or Southern U.S. in conjunction with a major hamfest?
>
>Second- What City?
>Needs to be a major city, not too far north or too far south.
>
>Example- Belton, Texas would not be good because
>the nearest major transportation hubs are Waco and Austin.
>They are secondary airports, so tickets and rooms are more costly
>and there is a long drive to get to the fest.
>
>My suggestions would be:
>Dallas-Fort Worth area-
>Major transport hub so easy to reach, plenty of cheap rooms,
>HamCom hamfest.
>
>Shreveport, Louisiana area-
>Big-name casinos mean you can find deals
>on transportion and rooms, good food, SARA hamfest.
>
>Discussion, Please?
