Hi Pete,

I was good to hear you on the air as well. I hope we
stirred up some interest. It did seem like we shook a
number of field sets out of the bushes and on to the air
this morning. I was pleasantly surprised how well I was
heard. The GRC-9 is designed to end feed an approximately
1/2-wave wire in the "REEL" position, so even a sloppy
inverted-V has the high-current parts up in the air and
,coincidentally, doesn't need much of a ground..

Thanks for the input on freq's and modes. I'm not really
familiar with exactly how 75M works in broad daylight. I'm
assuming if we had near line-of-sight, out to 10 miles or
so, we'd be ok with the 5-watt sets on decent antennas. Many
of my sites involve taking the high ground. At the last
meet, I worked N3RZU's rice-box mobile out to about a mile
with the MAB and 6-ft whip. I'll establish some short range
tasks for 611/MAB/pogo-stick types. Anyway, I think 75 will
be the principal band. We should pretty much have it to
ourselves.

I'm planning on setting up a number of missions with varying
profiles, and just running the ones we have people and
equipment to support.

I'm mostly thinking in terms of voice: My morse is
abysmal. But, there are some neat sets that are CW only. I
don't think it will be difficult to accommodate.

I'm looking for someone with a VRC-12 or such to act as a 6M
basestation if PRC-xx's show up.
