We're in the planing stages for a ham-radio field exercise
to be conducted at the 2002 Military Radio Collectors
Association meet on Friday, 6 September 2002 at Gilbert,
Pa. This will involve dispatching teams equipped with
military field radios, perhaps in vintage military vehicles,
to remote locations, and then conducting a traffic net to
gather "intelligence."
The meet area is rural and should be conducive to this sort
of event. The terrain is interesting and should allow us to
make good use of both HF and VHF gear.
We need to get a feel for how may people are interested in
participating, and what sort of equipment they would like to
bring and operate.
Some finer questions:
Freq's: Will all the HF gear hit 40M?
Modes: AM vs. CW. Any interest in vintage SSB on PRC-47's
etc.? Of course VHF would be FM.
So please speak up. (I CAN'T HEAR YOU!)
73,
Al
