Put the crystal in a gold oven and you won't have all the problems! If you don't have an oven, let me know and I will send you one. Glen, K9STH

Subject: [Motorola] Weird Crystal Failure
My old Motorola L43-GGV Base Station (TA190) just had a failure.
Most unique, The old International transmit Crystal had F-609 adapter pins attached to the standard F-605 case so
it would fit into an FT-243 socket. The adapter pin became unsoldered and caused a squeal on the
Tx audio. I pulled the crystal and one pin remained in the socket. I resoldered the adapter pin and the rig
works OK now, Maybe for another 10 years. All the electronics at Ice Station Zebra are unheated so it gets really
wide temperature cycling. Temperature cycling wrecks everything.
