Message-ID: <5714f1d7-ec30-58b8-43f0-734f1c8a4c9f@att.net> Hello All, I may be a glutton for punishment, but I'm working on bringing my old 8ch 2M Micor back to life, with its Systems 90 multi-pl encoder. ?I need the tan connector for the multi pl module. Anyone have one in their stash somewhere? I have pins and the removal tool, and I probably could jury rig something, but would like to do it the right way. Also, I'm going to make my yearly request for the manual on the Systems 90 8 channel channel scan module.? They all seem to have gone into deep hiding. Thanks in advance Jack Antonio WA7DIA From scr287 at att.net Sat Feb 17 14:34:23 2018 From: scr287 at att.net (Jack Antonio) Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2018 14:34:23 -0500 Subject: [Motorola] Why 52.525 Message-ID: The answer to this may be lost to history, but I got to wondering... What was the driving force behind making the 6M FM simplex frequency 52.525?? Why that, and not some other frequency? Just curious. Take it for WHT it is worth. Now from a real old timer. I go back to the 1950's on six meters when we were using old F.M. Link* radios with all square wiring and 807's in the finals. In those days FM was only authorized above 52.500 MHz. We used unheated crystals and wide open IF with 15 kHz (sorry,it was kc/s back then) deviation. Someone with a reasonable sense of understanding decided we needed to be 25 KHz inside the FM band just to be safe in those days with not the greatest frequency measuring devices. So 52.525 came into being. On Saturday, February 17, 2018 Jack Antonio wrote: The answer to this may be lost to history, but I got to wondering... The FM assignment was 52.5 and up. FM deviation was 15 kcs. 52.500 + .015 = 52.515, add a 10 kcs guard band and you get a round number 52.525. It wasn't very crowded back then.
