This is the adapter cable for tuning up a PT-400 on a Motorola test set. First, does anyone have one they'd like to sell? Second, anyone have the sheet on the cable, with schematic? It will not be hard to figure it out, but would like a copy of the "official" document for the files. Third, if I can't locate the official document, did the test set end of the cable terminate in the 20 pin rectangular connector, or an 11 pin "octal style" connector? Also, looking for any PT-400 stuff, parts units, power packs, etc. Thanks Jack Antonio WA7DIA/4 ______________________________________________________________ Motorola mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/motorola Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Motorola at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html From glennmaillist at bellsouth.net Mon Mar 23 15:57:07 2015 From: glennmaillist at bellsouth.net (Glenn Little WB4UIV) Date: Mon, 23 Mar 2015 15:57:07 -0400 Subject: [Motorola] Questions re NKN-6099A Adapter Cable In-Reply-To: <55104496.6010609@att.net> References: <55104496.6010609@att.net> Message-ID: <6.2.3.4.2.20150323155603.0386a480@mail.bellsouth.net> What version PT400? The smaller pack set was PT 300, and PT 200 if the RF PA was not used. They all use the same receiver as the HT 200 Handie Talkie. The one using MX modules is the PX 300 and PX 300S and is vastly newer and different than a PT 400. The PX 300 uses a PT 400 battery box and accessories. It's been decades but there was originally a metering cable I used on PT 400's that had an 11 pin female "octal" style socket on one end to mate with a conventional test set cable, and the other the DB connector for the PT400. The only thing you really need the metering cable for would be the RF PA. PT 300's have no metering sockets and you tune those up with a VTVM. It's RF connector was DC isolated to allow a body mounted antenna as I recall. -----Original Message----- From: Motorola [mailto:motorola-bounces at mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Geoff Fors Sent: Monday, March 23, 2015 5:04 PM To: Discussion of equipment manufactured by Motorola Subject: Re: [Motorola] Questions re NKN-6099A Adapter Cable There is only one version of PT 400. Such numbers as T43DEN-3100. I hated them. They were miserable to service and all the screws and nuts were daubed with a thick brown glypt cement. The wiring was all Teflon insulated and placed such that it was easy to get it pinched and make a short. That platform was also used to make the Airport Dispatcher and a peculiar radio called the Multi-XFL, which doesn't appear in any sales catalogs of the time that I have, nor in the master index of service manual numbers (shown on my website.) . There were also fire lookout radios using the HT 200 and PT 300 boards. Not the regular Motrac top cover, but the one 15 inches long for the models that have extra frequency decks or options added, making them longer than the standard model. I have seen HT200, MX300 and I think a HT50 or similar in PT format. I have a HT200 if you can use it for the transmit and receive boards. These had a problem with the brown colored capacitors used in the tuned circuits. Replace them with the Erie Red Caps and they seemed to work again. A lot of trouble to remove the coil shields to replace the caps under the shields, even with good vacuum desoldering tools. You can change the split of the radio by replacing the caps around the coils. 73 Glenn WB4UIV At 04:29 PM 3/23/2015, you wrote: >On 3/23/2015 3:57 PM, Glenn Little WB4UIV wrote: >>What version PT400? >>HT200, MX3xx, ?? > > >Shows where my Motorola education ends, didn't know there were >other flavors of PT400. > >Radio in question is HT-200 vintage, a P43DEN-1190. > >Jack > > > > >______________________________________________________________ >Motorola mailing list >Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/motorola >Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm >Post: mailto:Motorola at mailman.qth.net > >This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net >Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html From d.stiver at att.net Mon Mar 23 20:45:09 2015 From: d.stiver at att.net (Don Stiver) Date: Tue, 24 Mar 2015 00:45:09 +0000 (UTC) Subject: [Motorola] Questions re NKN-6099A Adapter Cable In-Reply-To: <6.2.3.4.2.20150323195335.080343a0@mail.bellsouth.net> References: <6.2.3.4.2.20150323195335.080343a0@mail.bellsouth.net> Message-ID: <576078839.26197.1427157909140.JavaMail.yahoo@mail.yahoo.com> I have some PT-400 items Don K7LHR?Don Stiver 520-762-5243 1175 N.
