[Motorola] Motorola GM300 accessory connector question

I have a pair of Motorola M10 radios being used as a repeater.  The pin 8 output on the acc connector goes low apon received signal with proper PL if the mic is in hung-up.  If the mic is removed from the hanger, or the radio put in monitor mode, pin 8 will go low even without receiving any PL,  (carrier squelch mode).  That is good.   On my GM300, pin 8 is programmed for PL/DPL/CSQ to go low apon receiving the proper PL.   When the radio is in monitor mode or mic removed from the hang-up, (carrier squelch)  the radio will NOT go low on pin 8 apon received signal without proper PL.  It still needs the correct PL for pin 8 to go low.   I like the way the M10 works.  Am I missing a jumper or something that would change the output of pin 8 so it follows the monitor or mic hang-up?  Why are these not the same?  Thanks, Jeff
