You have a high-power VHF ASTRO Spectra, which won't program with ASTRO25 CPS.

The head is properly called a W4.

You would need to get the flashcode for the radio to determine all the options.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the quick reply!

Well, I made a call to McChord, and the R13.00.01 CPS is called "Astro 25".

The spectra I have is Mod #T99DX+09W_ASTRO ID# T04KLF9PW4AN-UCM (1 meg. / 2.5 kHz)

I am using the "Astro" A4 head.

Do appreciate you steering me in the right direction!

Yeah, when McChord and Ft. Lewis merged, it was exciting times....maybe now we can get our AFMARS station painted! (LOL)

Thanks Eric!

Tim,

You must be careful to discriminate between Astro Spectra Radios and Astro
Digital Spectra Radios, because they require different CPS. Most Air Force
bases used the digital Spectra and digital Saber radios before changing to
the narrowband channels in the 380-399 MHz military UHF band. I worked with
the LMR shop at Vandenberg AFB, and I am well aware of that distinction.

When attempting to define Motorola RSS or CPS, be aware that the version
number, as in R13.00.01, is meaningless without specifying which software
you're referring to. Having programmed some Astro Digital Saber and Spectra
radios myself, I can offer a caution: Once a radio has been programmed with
the Windows CPS version, the DOS RSS will not work at all.

Perhaps I can offer some suggestions, if you'll advise the complete model
number and flash code of the radio(s) you want to program.

Hello Group,

I was told that the proper version of CPS for programming an Astro_Spectra
is R05.03.00........?[RVN4183].

The "LMR" shop @ McChord AFB tells me that they have CPS [R13.00.01]. Will
this newer version work? (The shop does not program many Spectrs
nowdays.....most of the Joint Base Lewis-McChord has gone to trunking! The
techs were a little hazy on Spectra programming!)

The Astro Spectras I have are 100w trunk mount w/"A4" heads.

Appreciate any clarifacation.
