[Motorola] R-100 with a Spectra PA?

Ok, I know I should just repair the UHF R-100 25 watt PA, but I have several good 40 watt UHF Spectra PAs sitting around from radios with the bad chip cap syndrom. I have a great little 22 amp switchmode power supply that is half the size of the original R-100 power supply that could power the whole thing. Just think, no bridge rectifier or pass transistors helping the heatsink get hotter. Making the mechainical connection between the Spectra PA and the R-100 heatsink may require some machining but the PAs are close in size and should fit. I just wonder how similar the drive levels and power control funtions are? Anyone know? This stuff would be used in the hamband. Could this work? Maybe run the Spectra PA at 25 watts or so, with two fans outside on the heatsink. There is a fan built in the switchmode supply that would be inside the R-100 replacing the original supply. What do you guys think? Or is there anyone out there that has 1 spare UHF R-100 25 watt PA to trade for 2 Spectra PAs? Jeff
