[Motorola] OT Uniden problem

I know that this is a "bit" off topic! However, there is basically no participation on the Uniden reflector although I posted the same message several days ago. A really "lame" connection to Motorola is that Uniden used to be Force and Force was "spun off" Motorola in the 1980s!

I have a number of SMU-300K mobiles that have sat idle for several years. I also have 2 APX-500C programmers and 1 APX-191 program cable. When I try to program the mobiles all I get is an error message. The ePROM erase function tests good (on both programmers). Also, the programmers appear to be writing to the ePROM However, the LED which normally flashes when the SMU units are being programmed does not light. Both programming units work fine with the removable PROMs used in other Uniden mobiles.

I have rebuilt the APX-191 (replaced the diodes and resistors) "just in case" there was a problem with the APX-191. This has not helped at all.

Has anyone run into a similar problem with the SMU or SMH units? If so, what was the solution. Also, does anyone have a schematic on the APX-191? The circuit is obvious but there is a possibility that the microphone cord between the circuit board and the unit may be wired incorrectly.
