All Astro Spectras are capable of 2.5KHz deviation, however the older units don't have a high-enough stability oscillator to tune the splinter channels like 155.6475.
1Meg indicates a 1MB vocon, instead of a 512K.
1Meg, 2.5KHz are far more desirable.
Feel free to send me one for consultation ;-) Seriously, if you have some to get rid of, let me know.

Subject: [Motorola] Motorola Astro Spectra
Hello group,
I have the possibility of picking up some Spectra's (110w, trunk mount). I noticed some have "1Meg" and "2.5 Khz" on the ID tag and some don't. What is meant by 1 meg, and does the 2.5 Khz mean they are capable of narrow band? Some of the Astro Spectras have neither the 1 Meg or 2.5 Khz on the ID tag. What's the difference? Is one type more desirable than the other? Thank you for any information.
Regards,
Tim W7TRH WA
