The HT1000 is very picky about the data voltage levels, and many aftermarket
RIBs and RIBless cables don't have tight enough tolerances on these levels
to satisfy the HT1000.  Borrow a genuine Motorola RIB and programming cable,
to see if this is your problem.  Also, the HT1000 requires the Boot Control
lead to be present, but not all aftermarket cables include it.

Subject: [Motorola] HT1000 Programming Help

Hello Group,

I was "Elected" to program a few UHF HT1000 radios.[H01SDC9AA3DN]

I am using RSS 3.00.00 [5 May 95], aftermarket "Rib less" serial programming
cable. The computer is a 486-DX33. The non-turbo speed is 16 mHz.. Com 1 is
set up

8,1, no parity. Running Win 3.1 and DOS 6.20.  have RSS in DOS directory.

Have a problem.........I can't even "READ" the radio! Perhaps I have
something out of sequence? The screen has some other ser.# and model
showing....can't get it to change. Frequencies stay the same when I toggle
through all 16 ch.!

As I understand it, if radio has been programmed with a later RSS, my ver
3.00.00 can not be used to reprogram. But, I should at least be able to READ
frequencies ?

Can someone tell me the proper sequence of connecting and turning on
components? Does the HT need to be "ON", and battery installed?

If all else fails, I do have a Motorola RIB, but will have to purchase a RIB
to radio cable.

At this point, I just wanted to READ the radio........did not know it was
going to be a big deal.

I would appreciate any help. Thank You! Merry Christmas!
