Hello Group,

I was "Elected" to program a few UHF HT1000 radios.[H01SDC9AA3DN]

I am using RSS 3.00.00 [5 May 95], aftermarket "Rib less" serial programming cable. The computer is a 486-DX33. The non-turbo speed is 16 mHz.. Com 1 is set up

8,1, no parity. Running Win 3.1 and DOS 6.20.  have RSS in DOS directory.

Have a problem.........I can't even "READ" the radio! Perhaps I have something out of sequence? The screen has some other ser.# and model showing....can't get it to change. Frequencies stay the same when I toggle through all 16 ch.!

As I understand it, if radio has been programmed with a later RSS, my ver 3.00.00 can not be used to reprogram. But, I should at least be able to READ frequencies ?

Can someone tell me the proper sequence of connecting and turning on components? Does the HT need to be "ON", and battery installed?

If all else fails, I do have a Motorola RIB, but will have to purchase a RIB to radio cable.

At this point, I just wanted to READ the radio........did not know it was going to be a big deal.

I would appreciate any help. Thank You! Merry Christmas!
