Hmm, nope that only disables the speaker audio when the mic ptt is used, i 
imagine to prevent feedback is all.

I also noticed on the R1 Audio board schematic that audio mute gate U4A 
mutes the audio on transmit as well.  I lifted one side of R140 so that it 
couldn't switch Q109 to enable the Audio Mute Gate, well, that works to some 
extent.  It doesn't mute the speaker on transmit anymore but it also doesn't 
mute the receiver at all now, it sounds like the squelch is open.  So that 
was tantalizing but didn't do it.

Any more suggestions?  This has to be a mute option jumper somewhere i'm 
betting!
