Paul,

The K-8436 filter is wideband, isn't it? Are you converting the receiver to
narrow band, and that's why you want a filter? This would be the filter in
a Sensicion strip, if I recall correctly.

It's been awhile but I seem to remember that the narrow band filter had a
totally different part number.

The narrow band conversions were a lot of work. In addition to changing the
filter, there were half a dozen parts which had to be changed as well. I
think I have the instruction manual for that kit around here somewhere.
Narrow band conversions were a headache for both end users and Motorola.
Customer's technicians would make mistakes doing the conversion and create
radios which would regenerate in the IF, and more. State of California
suffered through this in 1962-64 and wound up sending a quantity of radios
back to Chicago only to find that the technicians had incorrectly installed
the kit/s. But I digress...

I still use the wideband receiver and it works just fine on modern narrow
band signals. The only advantage to the narrow banding kit today is if you
have an adjacent-channel system near you.
