[Motorola] SpectraTAC Module ID

I posted this question over on BatLabs but never got a response, so for
those of you who read the messages there, please forgive the
cross-posting...

I just acquired some SpectraTAC receivers which were in some kind of -SP
suffix 800 MHz voting system, although the original user had since changed
the receiver boards inside to VHF and UHF versions.  I have never worked on
this series before so I am just starting to learn about it.

Each one has a plug-in module marked "Discr. Ampl."  I presume this means
"Discriminator Amplifier," however my SpectraTAC manual does not list this
module.  Does anyone know what this module does?
