[Motorola] MT-2000 noise while in Scan?

Any MT-2000 gurus on this list?
 
I programmed some MT-2000s for 3 scan lists.  Each scan list is
"Selected Chan" and has Priority 1 and Priority 2 as Fixed and a third
fixed channel.
 
The problem is while in scan and a channel becomes active, a repetitive
low 'bong' noise is heard in the speaker.  It sounds like a loud PL
going off and on at the rate of the scan.
 
I'm looking for RSS scan settings that will get rid of the sound.
