[Motorola] Practical Range for CM200/CP200 Radios

Gents:

FWIW: The Larson 5/8 WL 2M Koolrod antenna also works quite well on 6M without mods. I have one on my car from which I operate both bands from one antenna. I use a duplexer from COMET to mix the HF/6M and 2M connectors' outputs from the rig into the one antenna. Not a bad solution if you are operating a Mitrek _1 and _3 in the same vehicle.

I would find a 5/8 wave antenna. Larson makes good ones. Cut the whip to
the recommended length and check SWR. Also, Is the radio 25 watts? Or 45?
Makes a big difference.

Subject: [Motorola] Practical Range for CM200/CP200 Radios

We recently purchased a Motorola system that consists
of 1 CM200 mobile radio (146-174 MHz, 25-45 Watts,
4-channels) and 6 CP200 hand-held radios (146-174 MHz,
1-5 Watts, 4-channels).

The CM200 came with a mag-mount 1/4-Wave VHF antenna.
Each of the CP200's came with a VHF Heliflex NAD6502_R
antenna.

The primary channel on which we will be operating is
151.625 MHz.

What average range should we expect for:

[1] Mobile to hand-held transmissions?
[2] Hand-held to hand-held transmissions?

What would be a "better" antenna to use for the
CM200 mobile radio?

Thanks for your help!
