[Motorola] M1225 DPL/TPL problem

Bill,
I should have mentioned in my previous posting that some of the compact
mikes used on newer Radius mobiles don't need to have the mike hangup clip
grounded. The button on the back of the mike is insulated from the metal
ring behind it, so that the hangup clip simply completes the circuit. This
was done because of the prevalence of plastic dashboards.
Try putting a mike clip under the button on the back of the mike to see if
that takes the radio out of CSQ mode.

Thanks everyone. I'm aware of the mic hang-up function used on 2-way. I
first came across that scheme when I worked on the Motrac, then Micor and
Mitrex. They each used a switch inside the mic hang-up hanger which was
wired across the radio head pins. I've been removed from 2-way work since
the recent programmable radios came on the scene and when an FCC license
became no longer necessary to work on commercial equipment. The 1225
apparently has no visible switch or external wiring to function as a PL
Monitor device (switch).
After being reminded of the hang-up on this list, I tried grounding the mic
clip on the back of the 1225 mic but it still didn't work yet. When I get
to work tomorrow, I'll look at the "Power Up Mode".
