Dennis,

You are correct about the splits, and it is important to use the correct
antenna on the MT1000.

The antenna that is suitable for the 2m band is Motorola Part 8505816K22,
which is specified for 136-150.8 MHz. This is a current part that is
available from Motorola Parts for about $11. It replaces the now-obsolete
antenna NAD6282. Don't be fooled by vendors of "magic" antennas that
purport cover the entire VHF band. Be aware that your radio will almost
certainly need to be retuned to operate optimally over the 2m band; both the
receiver and the transmitter circuits have tuning adjustments. If you will
advise me of the complete model number (on a label under the battery), I'll
get you started in the right direction. The model number should begin with
H33GCU, or something similar.

Subject: [Motorola] MT1000 Replacement VHF Antenna

Good morning everyone,

I recently won an auction for an MT1000 VHF 99 ch radio.
However, the seller forgot to include the antenna. He's making it
right, but I need a replacement.

I see various auctions for antennas, such as:

            http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230157947426

..but I thought there were various splits that I need to pay
attention to.

Any guidance? I need an antenna that will work on the 2 meter
band.

            Thanks,

                Dennis
