[Motorola] Micor Guides

Hi Eric,
You're very kind. Jim (K8COP) contacted me and has some he's sending.
I'm new to Motorola gear. I own a radio station and bought some Moto gear
on eBay. Thence to getting the manuals and finally, I bought an IFR service
unit!!! All this because I wanted to set up a repeater for 455.450 "in" and
450.450 "out".
This took me from P110's to GM300's to GR300 w/telco interface. Things
quickly spiralled out of control :>) Changed all the Moto mic's to TT Moto
mics so as to use the interconnect (toy).
I ended up with wanting a Micor because it's got lot's of powr out compared
to the GR300...you know how hams can be!
Now, every nite, I sit at the kitchen table studying the common chasis
interconnect board and the individual xmtr and rcvr cross connects. Of
course, I cannot give up the telco interface that the GM300 has with the
Zetron telco option so I'm designing a TT interface for the Micor. The
GM300 will be relegated to "stand-by" status.
I'm waiting for Int'l Xtal to return my channel elements with the new freqs
i.e. the broadcast RPU channels (remote pick up). I haven't crawled into
the xmtr or receiver yet....I'm wondering if they're going to want special
alignment tools...I remember that Moto always had wierd shaped non ferrous
tools compared to the simplicity of GE who used simple tools....I guess
I'll find out shortly when I go to re-align this Micor repeater.
I'm learning so much about Mororola. The local shop softwared the P110's
and the GM300 Radius radios and the Maxtrac's I garnered from eBay. They
work beautifully and the staff at the station went nuts with the new "toy".
This Moto listserver has been so valuable in helping me understand the
Motorola "culture". You and others are "must" reading whenever you pop up
on the screen. As larryradio on eBay, I'm buying all kinds of spare parts
for the Micor. Of course, now that I'm stocking up on parts, the local Moto
shop wants to give me a Micor UHF that is sitting in the corner :>)
That's ok...in broadcasting we're a culture of spares...spare xmtrs and
spare parts. The more the merrier .
OK, enuf....again, many thanks for the offer. For now I'm ok and "on a
roll" with the Moto gear.....and having fun too.
Many thanks, Eric,
Lar
