Hi Scott:
Did you have, by chance, fish out the manual? it seems to me it's very much
like the HT800 but I can't be sure, so I'll wait For yours.

You might want to open it up first and check the range on the VCO, its
usually stamped on the VCO underneath the two connectors from the bottom end
of the controller. My guess you already have a mid split radio to begin
with, the top split is 157-162, and I doubt they would have taken that split
and programmed it to 156, they always seem to choose the radio that best
covers the frequencies needed.
Scott
PS: I'll dig up the copies of the manuals later today.

...i will be thankful for a copy. This one is released from Army service and
it operates around 156MHz. I know I can perform "surgery" on it, at least on
the RF stages. The point is to replace the capacitors in the various
circuits, it being the same circuit. Not very easy but can be done. I did it
once on a HT440. I shall probably have to open up the VCO and replace the
inductor: I've done that a few times on VARI-L modules when I didn't have
the correct range I needed.

Which split is it? If its a mid split that's usually 146-162 or 146-174 on
a wideband model, it will do 2-3 Mhz outside of the normal split when
programming before losing VCO lock. If its a low split then its 136-150.
I do have a .pdf copy of the service manuals, VHF and UHF, as well as copies
of the RSS Manual and the Operating Manual.
