Jeff,
The term "public safety type" means nothing to me. Please look for a
printed paper label somewhere under the battery or on the back of the radio
that is of the form "H33BXU3120AN". Some of the letters and numbers may be
different, but that is the model number of the radio. It is very difficult
to assist you if you don't provide the model number.
