I hope we can put this topic out of its misery soon. To help things along
in that regard, there is not now, nor has there ever been a cross reference
guide to Motorola RF transistors, other than the short-lived Motorola ROGO
program in the early 1970's for small signal transistors, which just
substituted one M- number for several.

The Motorola M- series transistors are specifically designed for the
application range they are found in and they are not just relabeled generic
parts. About the best you can do is trial and error substitution based on
known characteristics of the original part, and go from there. RF Parts'
catalog shows one or two cross-references but those were determined by
customers following experiments, rather than being supplied by any
manufacturer, according the engineering staff there.

With the older stuff, it's handy to have spare boards and assemblies because
of this kind of problem.
