[Motorola] New RSS Release for 1225 Radios

I need to comment on that new RSS for the 1225 series. It IS NOT HAM
FRIENDLY, period.

I have version 4.0, got it to work on a M1225 UHF, but it will not allow out
of band frequency entry. Not even the shift method works! If you hold down
the shift key you can enter the frequency, that is true, but when you try to
move to the next entry on the mode screen a warning pops up about the
frequency being out of band and you have to click the ok button on the
warning to get back to the main screen. At that point it will automatically
correct the frequency back to the normal bandsplit. So, for example if you
used shift and entered $$&.))))) for 447.00000 then moved to the next entry
box it will change it from the symbols to the frequency then pop up the
warning, then you have to click ok, and then it will change back to
something inside the bandsplit. Mine will change it back to 450.00000, so
even if i put something like 447.50000 in it will change it to 450.50000.

There is a way to Hex edit the 1225rss.dll file to allow out of band entry,
and did this, it worked to the point that it allowed me to read the radio
and edit the codeplug contents without any warning pop up or auto correction
of the frequency, but after writing it to the radio it started exhibiting
odd behavior, transmitting when it wanted to, receiving one frequency on a
channel programmed with another, etc etc. It totally messed up the radio.
Luckily i had a codeplug backup before the changes and i wrote that to the
radio which fixed all the problems, except being able to use it on the ham
band.

And, for all of those who may not know, if you use the latest version of the
software you can not revert back to a previous version despite what some say
i have found this to be true. I tried going back to version 3.1 or 3.2 but
it would not allow it, i was told to clone the radio from an old codeplug
originally created with the previous version to go back, not a problem since
each version was installed seperately and had codeplugs saved for each radio
i own, but the cloning would not work. You just get the dreaded codeplug
version mismatch error.

Anyway, just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this. I ended up selling
the UHF M1225 because i could no longer use it on the ham band after
attempting to program it with version 4.0.

Subject: [Motorola] New RSS Release for 1225 Radios

Motorola is now shipping a new version of RSS for the 1225-series radios
(M1225, P1225, and R1225).

This is HVN9054E, version R04.00, available only on CD.

The only change is that the new release will work under Windows XP,
either Pro or Home versions. All existing functions are preserved in
the new release, including the "Shift-Key Range Extension" feature.
