[Motorola] GP2000 Questions

Tim , I am a collector of Motorola HT,s and other mobile/base transceivers
that are "user keypad" programmable. The GP-2000/Pro-2750 series is an
overall great HT with Motorola's durability but it is the most complicated
one to program. Out of the GP-2000 , GP-68 and CP-50 series I prefer the
CP-50 because it is very easy to program and is a full size HT with large
battery capacity great rx audio. The rx audio on the GP-2000 is sort of
"raspy" but it does cut through noisey invironments. One major improvement
that can be made to the GP-2000 is to change out the short rubber antenna
for a standard size one. You will notice a major improvement on weak and
noisey signals. I like the way the GP-2000 feels in the hand. Other than it
being sort of complicated for the average user to program , the short
antenna and small battery it is a great HT. I started using Motorola HT's
for FM repeater work several years ago because the Amateur brand of HT's did
not have loud enough receive audio and if you drop a Amateur brand HT 9 out
of 10 times its broken where a Motorola may just have a slight scuff on it
if it is dropped onto concrete from waiste level. I know that this wasnt
much but I hope it helps. Also if it is clean/used do not pay over $200.00.
New ones go for around $250.00 and up. Thanks , 73 de Randy N5WV
