This is a charger that is sandwitched between my Motorola PX 300-S radio and its battery. Batlabs says they have the schematic of this charger, but all I can find on their website is a schematic for the battery box. I know this connector is for an ac cord and may be a dc cord as well . I need to wire up a ac cord for it. Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

The following are the connections for the 12-pin Jones plug for a PT-400
charger sleeve. They were sent to me in an email when I made a similar
query a while back. The charger type number is not specified. I have
not tested this yet, so use the information at your own risk.

For 117 VAC

AC goes to pins 11 and 12.
Jumper pin 11 to pin 9.
Jumper pin 12 to pin 10.
Fuse both sides of the AC line at 1.6 amps.

For 12 VDC

Negative 12v lead to pin 1.
Positive 12v lead to pin 2.
Jumper pins 3 and 5.
jumper pins 6 and 8.
Fuse with .75 amp in each lead.

To measure charging current:
Put a 0-200ma meter between pins 1 and 9 of J2 and J3.
Expect 150ma in charge, 10ma in trickle.

Be sure to put the fuses in. I am told that the transformers in these
have a tendency to short out.

Again, let me emphasize that this is unverified, so make some resistance
checks to see if it seems reasonable before applying power.

Let me know if you need the 234VAC or 6VDC connections.

There is a very small group on Yahoo, motorolaptportableradio for this
type of radio. Someone there might be helpful.

This is reminding me of yet another project sitting in the queue.

73,
Gary
