Jay,
The changing of a few jumpers and addition of a couple of plug-in
modules is the easy part. The important differences between a base
station and a repeater station are hard to see, but they can have a
major impact on the operation of the station. A repeater station has
receiver and transmitter interconnect boards that have filter components
on them that are missing from a base station. These filtered boards
have shields mounted on them that are not found on a base station.
Finally, there are shield plates that cover the fronts of both the
receiver and exciter shelves on a unified chassis. All of the shields
should be installed properly, with all screws in place, to ensure that
RF leakage is kept to the absolute minimum.
