Jay,

Yes, a TPN1106 Option C28 or Option C38 Power Supply can be swapped with
the plain power supply.  Some C28 or C38 Power Supplies also have Option
C29, which is a tone generator that puts a beep tone on the air when the
AC power fails.  If this option is in your power supply, you'll need to
connect the tone lead to Pin #22 on the F1 or F1-PL module.  All other
connections remain the same.

You really should get the Motorola manual 6881104E92 for reference.
