Glenn,

I have this machine in pieces at the moment for easy testing and repair.  The unit was not rendered inoperable before it's departure from service.  In fact when i'm able to make it transmit (into a dummy load) it still does so in DES, so it still has an intact key of some sort.  The radios are most definetly crystal controlled, i've been fooling with them trying to get them back in the right order.  The radios are without cases, they are circuit board only and mounted within the case that way.  Also, only the required parts are on the boards, the receiver does not have a PA or transmit module and vice-versa.
