I have a rib, and can program the radio with it.  I realize that some hand 
shaking needs to be done.  I am just looking for documentation on this 
protocol, so I dint have to redirect the I/O and reverse engineer it.

If I have to go to this length, it might take too much of my time.

Well I can run the RSS in a DOS session that runs in user space.  The I/O is 
just redirected to the proper tty.
