Hello Jack,

Here is the info you need:

Looking at the power plug from the end with the wires, the large pin on
the top left is pin #1. The large pin on the top right is pin #2. The
smaller lower left pin is #3, then 4, 5, and 6 and the right.

The functions are:

pin 1 - PA A+ (large A+ cable)
pin 2 - GND
pin 3 - SW batt out
pin 4 - Batt + (green wire in a typical moto remote head setup)
pin 5 - Batt + (ignition switch control of TX; orange wire in a typical
                setup)
pin 6 - switched A+

Whether pin 5 voltage is needed depends on the internal config of the
radio. It was an option.

The front panel board takes in power from pin 4, runs it through the
on/off switch, and then back out pin 3. Pin 3 is typically strapped to pin
6 so that the vol control on/off switch controls power to pin 6, the
switched A+ feed to the radio.

MCX-100s are good radios, but excessively complex because moto built them
for a world-wide market and tried to put in every conceivable option.
Rather than just build one radio that could do whatever, *everything* is
an option board. So you if you want scanning, you need a scan board
installed. But this will only work if you also replace the standard
synthesizer board with the "fast-lock" board. There must be 20 different
control head configurations which are compatible, for example, with the A,
B, C model variants, but not the D, F, models, except on alternate Sundays
so long as it was not the German export model.

Cheers,

=Randy=
