1. Highly doubtful. If you have an 800 radio, there's very little possibility
it can be moved into 900 without serious modification (like a new RF section.)
2. MT1000s (as most Motorola products) have separate fields for TX and RX
frequencies, so you can do any split you'd like. Some earlier radios (MCX1000s
and earlier) didn't like the split to be too large (10+ MHz or so), but an MT
1000 should be no problem.
