I also agree that you read the web site he mentions since I know that it is alive
and well, this summer it was being used by various relief agencies here throughout
Arizona. to coordinate during the various large forest fires we experienced.  In
fact some of the iridium phones were offered to local hams who work with Red Cross
and RACES teams to coordinate rescue effforts around the state, mainly for
sensitive comms that could not be carried on the ham channels or for areas where
even the ham rptrs didn't cover well.
