[Motorola] MITREK questions

Gosh the list has been quiet lately....
Well, among all my other projects, (getting some low band MASTR II's in
service, working on my truck, etc.), I decided that a MITREK might be a
good data radio, since it's relatively small, and I have one on hand.
Radio Model Number: T83JJA3000BK, Chassis Number HUD1032B
What I know at the moment:
110W, PL, "one channel(? I see 4 slots...)", 146-174MHz chassis,
ummm....thats about it at the moment (it's tuned for 151MHz right now)
What would be required (can it be done?) to move this radio to
saaayyy.... 144.390MHz, 145.010MHz, and maybe 2 other frequencies in
that range? I'm sure someone's figgured out that I want to turn this
into a data radio.... My ultimate goal would be to turn it down to
about 50 watts, and run it as an APRS tracker, with the ability to do
regular packet sommunications in the area.... But in order to do so I
need it down at 144 MHz....
I'm not afraid of workign on it (I have some alumni who might be willing
to work with me on the project, right Mr. F?), I just need to be
educated first...I am lacking in a manual, or a place to start looking
for what I need to do to modify this radio!!
Thanks
Ken
