All of the 42 meg low band mobiles are either Micors (Vintage 1976 or so) and
Syntor-Xs (Vintage 1983 or so.) Most of the bases are of the same type and
vintage. As far as I know, neither GE or Motorola make any low band equipment.
There are some small companies that make low band equipment. We have one off
brand 42 meg base unit. It is called americon or something like that. We have
never got the audio to sound good on the unit using dedicated phone lines for
control. Also the tone decode boards in the unit were extremely temperature
sensitive. I don't remember how far they drifted, but it was a long way. More
than enough that they would not respond to the tone control and would not
transmit. We had to remove these tone boards and put in a tone decode system
from another company. The transmit audio on the unit does sound good when using
a local mic, but from a control line, it is very tinny. The receiver in the unit
sounds good and appears to work fine.
