Hello,
Maybe someone could help me with a problem with a Saber II handheld. Radio
receives well until it sits idle for a period of time, then when it receives
a signal, the speaker will not unmute. The busy light will blink, but no
sound comes out. Yes--the mode is programmed for carrier squelch. I can
wake the radio up by tapping the ptt, then it starts receiving fine. The
amount of time it takes for the radio to "go deaf" seems to depend on the
strength of the battery. When the battery is fully charged, it may take
several hours to stop receiving. When the battery is low, it may take a few
minutes. The radio is equipped with a des encryption module and I am
wondering if the audio passes through it. I may try to find a bypass module
and see if it helps.

Thanks for any help you may have,
Mark Prescott
