The Motorola 10 Meter FM base you have on eBay should be an L41GGB desktop
"Consolette" base station which must be one of the last ones, if it's dated
1966, since that style is all tube type and was manufactured from
1956-onwards. I would have thought they were discontinued by 1963 when the
Motrac Consolette bases came out, but evidently not !
It uses the same strips inside as the T-Power and the Twin-V mobiles. They
are very reliable and a neat collectible. Perhaps the best thing about them
is that you can see one in the Sheriff's office on the Andy Griffith Show in
the later episodes.
There was also a desktop remote control which looked almost identical to the
actual base station, but the remote uses a row of plastic panels across the
control area which could be customized depending on application. You will
regularly see some doofus trying to sell one on eBay as a base station when
all it is, is a remote control.
