Hi there,
A couple of good resources for you:
1st: http://www.batlabs.com - look in the model specific section
2nd: Radio information Board - http://radio.the161.net
What you would want to do is find someone who has a RIB (Radio Interface
Box) as well as a cable specific to that series of radio, and the software
to read it. The cable and box can be found for about $120-$150 on eBay,
and the software for about $300 from Motorola. Be very careful about
using software that you might find off the internet - you can easily mess
the radio up if it's a flashport radio making it very unusable. Also,
using an aftermarket cable/RIB, and a fast computer can corrupt the
codeplug (the data that contains the information in the radio).
I highly recomend sending the radio to someone who has worked with these
radios before, or finding your local radio shop for assistance. These
options will be *much* cheaper than buying the proper software/hardware to
make this possible.
There is no way besides reading the radio with the RSS (Radio Service
Software) to determine what the radio is programed with. These radio's
are also not field programmable, and will not show frequencies, just names
that the owner of the radio would understand.
If you would like to know more, you can post a message on the board above,
or write me personally. If your friend is interested in selling the radio
because of the above, let me know, I might be able to buy it from him.
Good Luck, let me know if i can be of any more assistance!
