[Motorola] Expo charger question

I've had some success with shocking nicads packs. A battery pack may
have one or two dead cells that will not come up to 1.2 volt (/ cell).
Hence the voltage is low by 1.2V X number of bad cells.
Using a variable power supply connected to the battery pack, I very
quickly turn up and down the voltage to the point where it may draw as
much as 5 amps. Afterwards this usually brings the pack up to it's
rated voltage.
You can now apply it's rated charge for the prescribed time. In other
words its designed charger will now be able to supply the charge.
I must caution you to be VERY careful when doing this. It is possible
that current this high could cause the pack to EXPLODE ! Be very brief
with this shocking current, stand far away from it and wear safety
glasses.
I haven't done this with metal hydride, and I believe that it will not
work.
