Well TX is done by sending the DPL or DCS right to the modulator.
RX is done at the discriminator, before any filtering.
CES and others have sold these boards for quite a while.
You can even get after market DES (digital encryption) boards
that work the same way.

That's interesting. How did you get the digital information into those
older radios? Also, as a side note I am still looking for someone who has
done a lot of workwith the Expo, and if anyone is reading this please
E-mail me off line so we can talk. I would like to do some things with my
old Expo, but haven't had any luck with finding information other then its
weight and hight off the web.
