I have two of them. I have not looked into them much yet. I do know a
little about the MICOM line. This radio is crystal controlled. The later
ones were programmable. There is a tuner that was used with the
radio. The tuner is channelized by the radio. To set up the tuner
required a special board (no longer available). This board allowed
selection of capacitive and inductive element by using dip switched. When
the SWR was acceptable, you would transfer the switch data to the diode
matrix and cut certain dioded to represent the switch configuration. You
would do this for each channel.
A lot of the pins in the connector should go to channelizing the
tuner. You can probably ignore these as you will probably be using a
resonate antenna.
Check the model number again. I think that your "6" should be a "G".
There are seven 10 position dip switches in mine. Each position of the
switch equals a channel. The unit that I opened has foil damage around the
ribbon cable that goes to the front of the radio. The Duplex switch
selects whether the radio receives on the transmit frequency or another
frequency. The pilot A3A switch determines if a slight amount of carrier
is to be injected. This is to allow the receiver on the other end to
follow the drift of the transmitter and also correct the received audio for
any mistuning between your transmitter and the remote receiver. The AME
switch is for AM Equivalent. This mode injects a lot of carrier. I do not
yet know what the RAN switches are for.
I will look for my manuals and see if I have one close to this radio.
The part number for the manual is 68-81044E15. The radio covers 2-10.8 MHz.
Motorola might still have the manual available.
Hopefully this helps a little.
BTW power probably goes into the three pin molex type connector.
