On the ham bands we meet all kinds and in all conditions. This fellow lives in Southampton, England. Turns out he was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer last July. He is now immobilized, as his bones are being attacked. All he has is his CW to maintain contact with the outside. I was fortunate enough to come across him tonite and sent him the email when we finished. Keep in mind, he's four hours ahead. The bands have certainly been tough lately and the problem is made a lot worse by hams who, in thinking the bands are in bad shape, do not even turn on!! Just a case of throwing mud at the wall and eventually some will stick. Many thanks for the thoughts on my cancer, much appreciated. It is just a case of taking the chemo, pills and other stuff and hoping for the best. My target is to reach my 70th birthday, so I hope to make it to March 2018, bit of a long shot but hey, aim high. I open my eyes every morning and if the lights are on I have another day so, all good. Biggest thing about this cancer is bone pain - is really hurts at times but a slug of morphine helps me along though it does little for my CW ! Jack, I look forward to hearing you again and many thanks All the very best Geoff G0SCX > On 28 Jun 2016, at 05:53, Jack B wrote: > > Hello Geoff, > > So nice to have met you this morning on 40 CW.
