Mohawk ARC,

>From Wikipedia, "SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit
Emphasis)[1][2] is a general-purpose, open source analog electronic circuit
simulator. It is a powerful program that is used in integrated circuit and
board-level design to check the integrity of circuit designs and to predict
circuit behavior."

Last month we used LTSpice to predict the response of our series and
parallel LC circuits. LTSpice is Linear Technology's version of the
simulator and is exceedingly powerful, often preferred by engineers over
expensive subscription based or licensed simulators. LTSpice is easy to
learn and can be used for simple circuits or the most complex projects. You
can even export your finished circuits to programs such as KICAD which will
create a printed circuit board which you can send to a manufacturer. Boards
can be produced for as little as $15. As a learning tool, LTSpice allows
the ham radio operator or student to design a circuit and make changes
quickly and easily. Also, there are plenty of videos on YouTube which make
learning how to use the program easy.

After the early 1980s the abilities of the rank ham radio operator and
professional engineer began to diverge exponentially. With tools like
LTSpice and KICAD, the radio amateur now has the ability to increase their
knowledge and skills to design and produce truly professional quality
projects. So, get busy, let's build something.

Also, if you don't have a laptop computer, feel free to bring a desktop PC
along with your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power strip. We have plenty
of table space.

See you Wednesday,

Paul, W1SEX

You may bring your own laptop. Paul will walk us through installing the
software as part of the demo.
