Very cold and windy, here's where we are at. 40 meter rotating dipole will have to wait until spring, we need to figure out a new mounting method. Rotating beam?has excellent SWR on?all 3 bands? Fixed beam has?a bad coax. Matt will repair it. The 2 long coaxes from the barn need to be repaired, I will fix them. We will do 1 more work detail before it gets to cold. We still need to?line up?the rotor control?to the antenna. Replace coax on fixed beam and check the SWR Check out the long rotor control extension cable ?Bill Leger...N1UZN1UZ at ARRL.NET978-502-8067???? Unfortunately it's not the same pattern as a Rohan or yaesu tb. The antennas on the tower are well within the vertical weight rating if the rotor, so if you want to fashion a wooden collar to keep the mast in line instead if using a tb, that should work fine. Or, of there's space, the top plate could be re drilled for another brand tb. Just make sure to use some cold galvanizing on the re drilled holes if you go that route. All us tower parts ship from the factory in ca ( not in stock at hro), so unless someone has one lying around, there's not likely a way to get one quick. 73 de Al, KE1FO On Saturday, November 1, 2014, bill leger wrote: > Good news and bad news > > We got all the cables out of the barn today. > The coax cables may need new connectors, no big deal > The rotor and rotor cable are good............That's the good news > > Now the bad > > Thrust bearing may be rusted in place. we did spray it last week. > Tomorrow we can grease it and put a little mussel to it. > > Tom, do you have a thrust bearing or know where we can get one fast? > > > *Bill Leger...N1UZ* > *N1UZ at ARRL.NET * > *978-502-8067* > > > > > -- 73 de Al, KE1FO K3 #3055 K3 #4094 ----- Check out my Amateur Radio Contesting blog at ke1fo.wordpress.com. It would be fine to do so if you would like. The only thing I would ask for a ground rod near the trailer is that it be on the side of the "road" so it isn't a hazard for any vehicles coming into the field if the trailer is not there.
