Calling the Western Mass Emergency Net

As many of you know the western Mass Emergency Net is now fully operational
on Wednesday nights at 19:00 hours. The WMEN is conducted on the IRLP node
9127 utilizing the following resources;

. N1WW, 2m Athol Repeater, 147.39+ w/100Hz CTCSS

. W1GZ, 2m Fitchburg Repeater, 145.45- w/74.4Hz CTCSS

o Also use the W1GZ EchoLink node

. W1GCD, Gardner 2m Repeater, 145.37- w/136.5Hz CTCSS

. W1GCD, Gardner 70cm Repeater, 442.1+ w/88.5Hz CTCSS*

. HF 75m, 3943KHz +/- QRM/QRN*

On Wednesday March 3rd the net will be expanded by adding two additional
assets to the mix. A commercial grade interoperable gateway will be
activated allowing the Gardner 145.37 repeater to be linked to the W1GCD
70cm Gardner Repeater (442.1+ w/88.5Hz CTCSS). Additionally, for the first
time, the entire net will be linked to HF via a new Kenwood TS-2000 at the
Gardner EOC. We will be on or about 3943KHz. This link will be
experimental and operability will depend on band conditions at the time of
the net. In order for the link to work I will need to be using a tight
squelch so your signal will need to be strong. I will be announcing the
frequency actually in use on the net as we go.

As always, please leave plenty of time for the links to switch over. Leave
at least three seconds after the last transmission heard before keying up
and wait three seconds after pressing the PTT before your audio. Check-ins
will be called by system used. The Radio Newsline will be featured on the
VHF/UHF systems only as the HF link is disconnected.

If anyone would like to join me at the Gardner EOC to watch this event as it
happens please feel free to do so. We are located at 51 East Broadway in
Gardner on the second floor. Parking is in the rear and enter through the
side entrance.

I hope to see you Wednesday night in person or on the air.

73,

Paul, W1SEX
