I wonder how that applies to the person who shows up with major photography
gear? While I'm ranting, what about all the state RF going on up there?
Common use?? There, I feel better now, sort of.

Sorry the hear that Doug,
I did some digging. They would put ham radio into 'exceeding common use' of
the park.
Next time wear cammo.
----------- from the DCR website ---------- A Special Event Permit is needed
when the use or activity exceeds, in any way, the common use of DCR
parklands. These include and are not limited to events such as: sporting
activities and tournaments, concerts, charity walks and the like. More

approached by a park employee and asked if I had a permit. I asked "for
what?" He said I needed a permit to broadcast. I explained that it was a
ham radio and I had an amateur radio license from the FCC, but he said that
didn't matter I wasn't allowed to use my radio. I was going to stop by the
visitor's center on my way out to find out details, but being Columbus Day
it was busy, and I didn't want to bother them. Just wondering what people
know about this? Have you heard of people being kicked out for ham radio
before? I was a little shocked...
