Well, things are shaping up this year for the 19th Annual Joplin Hamfest.  JIM Johannes reports that we have   
almost sold out of commercial tables, with several NEW vendors coming into the area from IL, IN, AR, etc.  The   
flea market advance table sales have already exceeded last year's numbers, and are selling out fast! 
 
For the third year on Friday evening, starting at 5:30 pm there will be an old fashioned cookout, which includes   
your choice of either burger or brat, and sides for only $5, sodas are extra.  Sides are potato salad, sour-kraut,   
coleslaw, and baked beans - your choice, any or all!  The Exchange Club of Carthage will have their concession   
trailer back Saturday! 
 
Again this year, two VE test sessions will be offered, one Friday at 7 pm, the other Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. 
 
For the first time we will have forums on Friday evening as well as Saturday.  There are some very interesting   
programs!  The list of presenters is on a program schedule that can be downloaded from the website.  You can get a   
program guide with forum information, flyer with directions, and hotel list from the website.  The link to the PDF   
files is at the end of this email.  There is also a downloadable hotel list, some offer discounts! 
 
If at all possible, bring lots of money, and don't miss our event!  This could be the year that we have an   
attendence over 1000, which would set a record for us! 
 
With all this food, 20,000 square feet indoors, free parking, prizes, 200 tables and more, where else would a ham   
want to be!  The website has links for both the weather outlook and local gasoline prices.  Not bad, today   
$3.29/gal! 
 
BTW, if you want to entice the family to come, there is a indoor skate park next door!  A new c a s i n o a couple
of miles away, Sandstone Gardens, Route '66 amusement park, the Chocolate Factory, Spiva Art Center, and more! 
 
My request... Regardless whether you plan to attend or not, please forward this note to your friends in all over   
the midwest, so we let everyone know that the Joplin Hamfest is the place to be this weekend to see all your   
buddies!  Then come join us this weekend!
